🌿 This Week’s Yogi Inspiration — Expectations & Letting Go
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about expectations.
We all have them. Sometimes they’re high, sometimes they’re quiet, but they’re there.
And sometimes… they fall flat.
Maybe it’s something small, like a movie you’ve been looking forward to (eh hem… Project Hail Mary), or something bigger, like an event you’ve planned that doesn’t go the way you imagined (eh hem… my Night of the Arts getting rescheduled).
Life has a way of doing its own thing.
There are moments where I feel like I’m in a boat, just moving along at the mercy of the water — going wherever the wind takes me.
And while we do have control over our choices, our direction, and the effort we put in… the outcome is not always ours to decide.
In yoga philosophy, this connects to the idea of Ishvara Pranidhana. This is the practice of surrender. Not giving up, but trusting. Letting go of the need to control every outcome while still showing up fully. Sounds easy right? HA.
Because hard work still matters. Effort still matters.
You still have to drive to the crossroads.
But what happens when you get there… sometimes that part is out of your hands.
This week, I’m reminding myself that it’s okay to hold expectations lightly. To work hard, care deeply, and still leave space for life to unfold in its own way.
📸 Photo of the Week
This week’s photo is me practicing yoga at home… virtually.
And honestly, this could be you very soon 😉
Thank you for being part of this little community.
Hope to see you Thursday, and back again on April 16th!
Warmly,
Sarah
